Retrofit Cylinders
CPSL offers and supports a variety of cylinders that can fit into most existing commercial grade of hardware. This can help in a situation where key control is a necessity and there's a tight budget. We have highlighted some solutions we offer. If you have a question please do not hesitate to contact us.
All locks are not created equal. CPSL recommends Medeco®. These cylinders provide a high degree of security by incorporating special design features inside each cylinder. Medeco cylinders offer superior pick resistance, are virtually bump proof, offer excellent resistance against drilling and other forced attacks, large number of combinations and a utility patent to protect against unauthorized key duplication.
Pick & Bump Attack Resistance
Pick and bump attack resistance is accomplished through the use of specially designed pins that must be elevated and rotated to an exact position in order for the lock to operate. False slots on the sides of the pins, along with mushroom shaped top pins, and with the incorporation of the reciprocal slider mechanism, further enhance the cylinder's pick resistance.
Drilling Resistance
To resist drilling, hardened steel inserts are used to protect critical areas of the plug face, shell and sidebar. Additional drill resistance is provided by hardened steel rods inside the bottom pins and selective use of hardened steel top pins.
Unauthorized Duplication
CPSL protects against the unauthorized duplication of keys by offering patent restricted key control products. Additional restriction on key cutting occurs due to fact that a special key cutting must be used at accurately reproduce the critical angled cuts on a patented Medeco key. Due to patent control, a photo ID and signature must be shown before a duplicate is made.
Key-In-Knob Cylinders
Key-In-Knob cylinders are designed to retrofit knob type cylindrical locksets, lever type cylindrical locksets, padlocks, and bored type auxiliary deadlatches and deadlocks.
Mortise and Rim Cylinders
Mortise cylinders have threads on the outside of the shell and are designed to be screwed into other manufacturer's mortise lock cases. A cam on the back of the cylinder operates the lock mechanism and a set screw holds the mortise cylinder in place.
Rim cylinders are used with auxiliary rim locks such as: surface mounted deadbolts, night latches, exit devices and jimmyproof locks (also know as vertical dropbolts or interlocking deadbolts). Rim cylinders are held in place with a back plate and two mounting screws.
